The Story
What if a pair of glasses could help you see with your heart?
When Bailey discovers her grandma’s sparkly rose-colored glasses, everything around her looks brighter and more magical. But as Bailey soon learns—with a little help from her favorite stuffie, Buttons—the real magic isn’t in the glasses at all.
From a fuzzy caterpillar that makes her cringe to a rainy day that ruins her bike practice, Bailey faces moments that don’t go her way. Each time, she remembers Grandma’s words about “seeing the world through rose-colored glasses” and chooses to look again—with kindness, curiosity, and love.
With gentle humor and a warm message about empathy and perspective, My Rose-Colored Glasses: A Bailey and Buttons Story invites children to see the beauty in differences, find the good in everyday moments, and discover that the brightest view of all comes from the heart.

About Julie’s Inspiration
Dr. Julie McDonnell, EdD, has always believed in the power of picture books to spark imagination and inspire learning. As a former elementary teacher with 30 years in education, she cherished using stories to engage her students. Now, as a devoted grandmother to Nadia, Callan, and Presley, she finds endless inspiration in their curiosity and joy, reminding her of the timeless lessons of childhood.
This passion blossomed into Bailey and Buttons, a heartwarming series created to empower, inspire, and uplift children (and adults) while fostering meaningful connections through shared reading experiences. These stories focus on self-worth, self-acceptance, and emotional resilience.
Julie lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with her husband and family. A certified life coach, she loves being a Mimi and can often be found swinging on playground swings, embracing the simple joys of life.
